| Resumo: | For a long time, social and environment responsible initiatives have played an increasing role in the strategy of organizations, but there is no a universal agreement. Nowadays, several instruments address this issue, especially from the perspective of the European Union. Generally, it is accepted that the corporate social report is a communication and measurement object that all organizations should promote. This research presents the practices of Portuguese enterprises and their concern with corporate social responsibility. According to this, each organization is an open social system whose existence is only possible thanks to the interaction that exists between all stakeholders and its environment. It is this conviction that an organization should have a responsible position towards society which detennines the specific behaviour, conduct and actions. Thus, the authors analyse the study published by the Exame (2003), Guide of Enterprises Socially Responsible, with the main objective of instigate the discussion in the domain of competitiveness. |
